At DulicTunes you will find recordings of amateur players of folk instruments. This site is provided to inspire everyone to share their music with others.
How do I find recordings of a particular musician on this site?
You can use the URL (web address):
http://dulcitunes.com/getperformer.php?perfq=name
changing "name" to the name of the performer you are searching for.
How can I submit my recording(s) for posting on this site?
Send your submission via email to: info@dulcitunes.com
Please provide your name, the title of the tune, your ED membership name, and the instrument you play on the recording.
What type of music can I submit?
Any traditional, public domain or original folk music played on Mountain or Hammered Dulcimer as well as other instruments such as Banjimer, Autoharp, Folk Harp, Concertina, Tin and Penny Whistles, Recorders, etc. Anyone with enough ability to play through a tune even with a mistake or two should consider posting. If you think you are not "good enough" please reconsider. Even the best musicians make mistakes; they just don't let those mistakes stop their playing!
Do I have to send MP3 files? Can I send a cassette tape?
MP3 file format is used on the web because the files tend to be smaller and, therefore, faster to transfer. DulciTunes can try to convert other file types to MP3 format for you. DulciTunes will also accept and try to post tunes recorded on cassette tape.
Are submissions reviewed before posting?
YES. All submissions for posting are reviewed prior to their being made public on this web site. This review is to make sure someone doesn't accidentally post a recording that should not be on a public web site such as this.
What are examples of tunes that would be rejected?
- Unverifiable "professional sounding" tunes!
This is simply meant to encourage amateurs to post by ensuring that most of the postings are less than "professional" sounding.
- Any recording that has objectionable vocals!
All ages should be able to enjoy all the tunes posted here.
If you include vocals in your recordings, please be sure the lyrics are both understandable and suitable for all ages.
- Recordings that do not feature folk instruments.
While a wide variety of music is a joy to hear, at this time, DulciTunes chooses to focus on folk instruments.
Do I retain "copyright" to my submissions?
YES. DulciTunes does not assume any right to your recordings. You can ask them to be removed at any time from this web site and publish them elsewhere without asking us first.
Will DulciTunes use my recording for any other purpose?
From time to time DulciTunes may want to use your tunes for some other purpose such as advertising or offering CD's of selected tunes. If your recordings are selected for these other purposes, DulciTunes will contact you to explain the use and ask your permission first.
